Not Just Standing, Standing Out

As much as we may go back and forth on whether shoes should make the outfit… the reality of shoes, is no matter how uncomfortable they may be after 8 hours of wear (even tennies can get uncomfortable at that point), no matter how uncomfortable they look, shopping for shoes sure beats the heck out of shopping for any other fashion snippet. I got this honed in, at the Who’s Next trade show, where the booth after booth of designers with all the clothing hanging lifelessly on racks. I was hard to determine if it was worth it to go in and check it out, perhaps even have an uncomfortable conversation with the designer, as trade shows seem to be tough for everyone. ‘I’m Jennine, a blogger… I swear, I’m not copying your work. I’m here to help get the word out…’ I really have to like something to engage in that ‘who are you’ conversation, though most the time it’s fine. 😉

The shoe booths were a lot easier to spot the inspiring pieces, all out on a pleasant display, little morsels I wanted to prance around in. Even the high towering platforms, which I normally am cautious about (blame my early days as a candy raver). Tsuru by Markio Oikawa and Alessandra Stella form an international (Japanese and French) team matching up east and west sensibilities in shoes. I love the amalgamation of sensible colors with outrageous design, and the square toe boots! Holy moly, I must have. Anyway, Allesandra Stella runs an adorable blog… check it out to see her at work.

‘Alessandra Stella, with her resolutely feminine spirit, fan of the period between the 50’s and the 70’s and of the vintage style, wants to speak to a contemporary pin-up, very asserted.
