While I look for ways to save money on my beauty routine, I don’t want to skimp on quality so I look for multitaskers that give me a lot of bang for my beauty buck. Last week, I wrote about the very versatile Farmaesthetics Eyebright Eye Makeup Remover and Treatment Oil. Here are more great products that do several jobs well.
With eco-friendly Terra Firma Multi Task Loose Mineral Eye Shadow, you barely need to buy any other makeup. This gorgeous, richly pigmented mineral powder is more than just an eye shadow. It works wonderfully wet or dry as eye shadow, eye liner, blush, and lip color. You can even mix it with clear nail polish. I dipped some clear polish in a bit of the Eggplant shade that I sprinkled on foil and got a really nice color on my nails. There are a flabbergasting number of colors to choose from — more than 60 satins, shimmers, and mattes. Smoke is an intense matte gray — perfect for a dramatic, smoky eye. Posie works well as a lovely, shimmery pink eyeshadow and blush. Baja (pictured above) is great for highlighting all over. Multi Task contains no chemical dyes, waxes, talc, parabens, or fillers. $8.99 for a 10-gram jar that should last forever. Beauty BONUS: Terra Firma is offering a special for Coveted readers. Get free shipping on a $50 order by entering the coupon code “FREE50” through the end of November.
Mario Badescu Glycolic Foaming Cleanser saves you time and money by deep cleaning and exfoliating in one step. It brightens and smooths with glycolic acid without being harsh or drying, thanks to soothing herbal extracts. I love to use this when I want to exfoliate my face but don’t have much time or feel too lazy to take the time to use a separate scrub (usually the latter). It’s especially good if you have any breakouts, because there are no scrubby grains to aggravate pimples. $15 for six ounces. Beauty BONUS: Get 15% off your product purchases at mariobadescu.com from December 1st through the 15th by enter the promo code “BEAUTYBLOG”. In addition to the discount, if you purchase two or more products, you’ll also get a bonus deluxe sample set with three assorted two-ounce samples of bestselling MB products and mirror in a MB signature cosmetic bag.
Dermelect Detoxifying Oxygen Facial Commission is an excellent cleanser that removes makeup and can be used as a deep-cleaning, brightening facial mask. As a cleanser, it’s thorough and easily removes makeup without leaving my skin feeling dry. To use it as a mask, I dampen my face and neck, apply the gel, and enjoy the bubbly feeling as it foams up like shaving cream (in fact, it also works well as a shaving cream). I like that I only need to leave it on for 2-3 minutes for a treatment that’s designed to brighten and even out skin tone. According to the company, it releases oxygen molecules and purifiers to declog pores, detoxify, invigorate, and hydrate tired and thin skin. Now I’m not sure if it’s doing that; but it does leave my skin feeling and looking really nice. It’s on the pricey side at $48. But very little product does a lot so the 3.3-ounce bottle goes far.
Aveda Compositions are oils that can be used many ways: as an all-over moisturizer, massage oil, bath additive, scalp treatment, and makeup remover. My favorite is the Beautifying Composition. It has an intoxicating aroma from a blend of rosemary and bergamot. I especially like to use it to remove stubborn makeup and to moisturize after a shower or bath. $21 for a 1.7-ounce bottle.
I hate to apply and pay for both a moisturizer and sunscreen so I love the all-natural, delightful Marie Veronique Crème du Jour. It’s a moisturizer for all skin types that protects from both UVA and UVB rays without chemicals. It has a SPF of 30, smells wonderful, has a nice, light texture, and leaves my combination skin very soft and hydrated, because it’s chock full of nourishing oils, like jojoba, wheat germ, ricebran, avocado, and many more. Big bonus: unlike so many products, it’s safe enough to use around the eyes so it protects delicate skin from the sun to help me avoid developing “crow’s feet” (how much do I not want those?). I recommend the tinted version, because the regular version is pretty opaque from the natural sunscreen so it can leave your skin a bit white, which is fine for fair skin but not so great if you have darker skin. $34.99 for a two-ounce bottle.
Suki Hair/Scalp Conditioning Oil is all-natural, vegan, deeply moisturizing, and smells amazing with its organic lavender and rosemary extracts. I love it, because it keeps my scalp from getting dry and flaky in cold weather and makes my hair shiny and soft. According to the company, it also stimulates hair growth and strengthens hair. I massage it into my scalp and the ends of my hair, and leave it on as an overnight treatment. You can also apply it right before you shampoo for a moisture boost or use it as a hot oil treatment by heating it, applying it to damp hair and leaving it on under a hot towel wrap for 20 minutes before shampooing. If you have dry and/or damaged hair, it also works as a leave-in conditioner. $29.95 for one-ounce bottle.
I hope these products help your dollar go further and keep you looking fabulous. Have a great multitasker you love?
